Assistant Director & Tech Lead
Matthew studied music from a young age and, throughout his schooling, learned to play, perform and direct. As a mature student he gained a BA Hons. Degree in Music from Bristol University. Here, he also performed with the University Choral Society.
From his early teenage years Matthew has been a DJ, entertaining youth to corporate groups in addition to family gatherings. His technical experience gained here has also been used as a musical director and sound engineer during many different stage musicals with various theatre groups. These technical skills are not limited to physical performances as his knowledge was used during the Covid-19 pandemic allowing others to continue to perform virtually.
His leadership in more traditional music has been used extensively as a director, of both sacred and secular choirs, for over 30 years. During this time he has also taught piano and music theory, played keys and percussion in the orchestra pit for musical theatre and accompanied weddings, funerals and church services on the piano and organ. He continues to accompany instrumentalists and choirs regularly.
